Infrastructure 2 with CAI

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to participate in this workshop. The session provided a valuable introduction to quilting, not only as a practical skill but also as a meaningful form of communication with deep historical and social significance. The instructor introduced us to various textile artists and hand-sewn artworks, highlighting how quilting has been used as a form of mark-making, civil protest, and artistic expression throughout history.

The hands-on component of the workshop was especially engaging. Drawing from our experiences in GCD (Graphic Communication Design) and our aspirations for future learning, we were encouraged to create a small quilted piece using both new and discarded fabric materials. This process allowed us to explore composition, texture, and personal storytelling through textile work.

The most fulfilling aspect was the final collective piece—each participant’s individual work was stitched together into a larger fabric piece, symbolizing the collaborative and interconnected nature of quilting as a practice.

I look forward to applying these insights to future projects and further exploring quilting as a tool for creative and conceptual expression.

Interesting experience!
