Part 1:Stamp sheet

As a medium characterised by a high degree of standardisation and circulation, the ‘Stamp’ serves here not merely as a visual presentation but also forms part of the project’s methodology. The stamp itself exists through reproduction; its value lies in being mass-produced, exchanged and disseminated, rather than as a unique image.

I hope to use the format of the postage stamp to highlight the reproducibility and circulability of these images: each photograph becomes a visual unit that can be infinitely reproduced, distributed and exchanged.

I collected 100 tourist photographs of Big Ben from platforms such as Instagram and Xiaohongshu/Rednote. While organizing and comparing these photos, I noticed that although they were taken by different people at different times, many photos taken at the same location exhibited a highly similar visual structure. Many tourists have already encountered countless related photos on social media before even reaching Big Ben; by constantly viewing these photos, they subconsciously learn what poses, shooting angles, and compositions to use.
